About Us
Did You Know?
80% of cut flowers sold in the United States are produced overseas mainly in South America. These flowers are grown using pesticides and fungicides and have to be flown thousands of miles to reach our vases in Michigan.
Tillie’s is named after my grandmother Thekla (Tillie) Boris who loved flowers and plants, and had an amazing green thumb. A favorite family story is how she grew a wisteria vine from seed on the widow sill of her NYC apartment. Its flowers took over the entire window, inside and out! When she moved to the suburbs, she brought a clipping from the wisteria that she rooted and planted in her yard.

Meet the Flower Farmer
Hi! I’m Kerry the flower farmer behind Tillie’s Flower Farm. Thanks to my grandmother I have always had a strong connection to nature and a love of gardening and growing plants. In high school I worked at a nursery and garden center where my knowledge, interest, and passion grew. At Michigan State I discovered the field of forestry and earned a bachelor of science and master of science in forestry and urban studies; and for the past 20+ years I’ve had a career as an urban forester. (What’s an urban forester you ask? We focus on growing trees in cities and towns).
I am excited for you to join me on this flower farming journey as we learn, explore, and grow beautiful flowers.
